**Quinte West Youth Centre (QWYC)** is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, empowering, and inspiring youth between the ages of 10 and 18. Our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where young people can access a wide range of programs, services, and opportunities that promote their personal growth, well-being, and future success.
This position plays an important role in assisting QWYC staff during regular operating hours by helping to deliver programs, engage with youth, and maintain a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. The role may involve assisting with the planning and facilitation of recreational, educational, and mentorship activities, while also ensuring that the space remains clean, safe, and youth-friendly.
**Role Expectations are**:
- Work community events and fundraisers; represent the Quinte West Youth Centre at these events
- Support youth during these events, as well as welcome guests and provide assistance when needed
- Works in compliance with and carries out the Policies and Procedures of the Quinte West Youth Centre
- Responsible for preparing reports as directed for their specialty program
- Must act quickly and decisively in all stressful situations that occur while on shift. These include but are not limited to conflict amongst youth, dealing with difficult participants and parents, reporting abuse or neglect to Children's Aid Society, dealing with youth disclosures, escorting youth from facility and property, following all current trespass notices, all drug and alcohol related issues etc.
- Call, and work with Police on all serious incidents that occur at the youth centre, ensure incident reports are filled out and that all police matters are handled professionally and carefully. Ensure medical attention is deployed for all medical emergencies
- Assist with ensuring participant compliance with stated boundaries
- Participates in the development and implementation of outreach events, programs and community events, which includes setting up booths, working in the public and secondary schools promoting Quinte West Youth Centre related programs, setting up sound equipment etc. as it pertains to your specialty program
- Ensure all equipment is put away neatly upon completion of program
- Assist with youth discipline issues, youth behavior contracts, and participant incidents
- Ensure youth who require counselling, emergency services or other assistants are properly referred to local or out of county services
- Hours of work will include weekends and some weekdays.
**Mandatory Required Qualifications** _as per Canada Summer Job Grant_
- Must be between the ages of 15 and 29
- Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act_
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- CPR and First Aid Trained
**Recommended Qualifications**
- Going through post-secondary school, with the interest of working with youth and/or non-profit
- Own transportation will be required as position consists of traveling to different events
- A clean vulnerable sector check is requiring due to working with vulnerable youth
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 9 weeks
Pay: $17.20 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed
**Experience**:
- Child and Youth Worker: 1 year (preferred)

- 25% (preferred)
