**What is the Position Offered?**
Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator and Management, you bring with you the general skills required with regards to carpentry, use of power tools and other woodworking equipment. You are an artistic individual that enjoys painting, prop building, and special project work. You take on and assist with projects including work such as basic carpentry, prop building, painting and repair projects on our thousands of pieces of unique rental equipment.
**Specifically**:
- You will work on a wide variety of projects with many different materials under direction
- You are an artistic and creative thinker, with abilities to produce work requiring a creative approach such as backdrops, props, etc.
- You are a DIY enthusiast and are not afraid of taking on challenging projects and brainstorming unique solutions.
- You should be knowledgeable in the use of common tools used in woodworking.
- You will participate in general building maintenance repairs (internal and external) as the need arises
- You will be a part of projects focused within the shop at Glow, however the maintenance/shop team will be called upon to assist with executing installs and builds for certain events such as Glow Gardens and deck-building for tents where an experienced maintenance team is required.
- You will take part in producing special custom ordered building projects required for events
- You will take part in sign builds and installations, carpentry, painting and repairs (under direction with training provided, welding experience is not required but is preferred)
- In addition to other maintenance and repairs, our tents and inflatables will also fall to the Maintenance department to ensure they are kept in a rentable state, so patching and minor repairs on those items will be required.
- You will keep your workspace clean and assist in shop cleanup/organization at the end of each day with your team.
Beyond your specific duties above, flexibility and teamwork are essential in this role, as in all other roles within the company. The corporate culture at Glow is very much a team approach at times, requiring that we all roll up our sleeves and dig in to get things done whenever necessary.
**Qualifications**:
- You have a DIY attitude and are not afraid of taking on unfamiliar projects and asking for direction
- You have experience in basic carpentry be it though work experience, education or both
- You can demonstrate your competency within our shop if requested as a part of the interview process
- You have examples of artistic builds and or other projects that you can provide if required
- You have experience with power tools
- Strong communication
- You are willing and eager to learn new skills
- You have a great attention to detail
- You can always see work to be done and are comfortable being assigned/ reassigned tasks by your supervisor to meet daily objectives
- You are flexible and have no problem shifting gears when priority tasks change
- You know when a project needs to be quick and functional and when a project needs more “polished”
- You are physically active and able to lift 65lbs or more and must have full range of motion and dexterity
- You are available to work flexible hours when required (although most work is Monday to Saturday, there will be some evenings and Sundays as sometimes required in the world of events)
