As a Security Advisor, you will work as part of a dedicated team of professionals responsible for the security function of helping to keep people, information, and assets safe and secure. We emphasize collaboration and partnership with internal and external partners and agencies. Following the Enterprise Security Risk Management (ESRM) approach, we recommend controls to reduce risks facing our corporate assets. Primary duties include:

- Present instructor led training on security related topics including workplace and personal safety, situational awareness, violence prevention, active assailant, and robbery prevention. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development of training.
- Conduct threat risk assessments involving respectful workplace and workplace violence incidents; document and provide written reports with recommendations to mitigate risk.
- Conduct risk assessments on City hosted events to determine various risks; document and provide reports with recommendations to mitigate risk.
- Conduct risk assessments on cash holdings at City facilities and recommend risk mitigation.
- Create risk mitigation strategies and document internal protocols/standards on risk mitigation.
- Conduct due diligence assessments for clients to identify potential risks, utilizing various tools/databases.
- Provide consultation and advice on security and risk related matters to all levels of employees, as well as Council and their employees.

**Qualifications**
- A completed 2 year certificate/diploma in a security related field and at least 8 years of experience in a security function such as law enforcement, or related equivalent such as investigations, assessments, evaluations or related area, OR;
- A degree and at least 4 of years of experience as noted above.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- Experience must include previous law enforcement experience; and/or previous corporate business experience in investigations, fraud/financial analysis, risk and prevention.
- Experience must include conducting respectful workplace and violence prevention workplace threat risk assessments and/or completed training in these workplace threat risk assessments.
- Experience must include presenting training and education sessions.
- Knowledge and experience in security related topics including workplace and personal safety, situational awareness, violence prevention, active assailant and robbery prevention will be an asset.
- A certification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) will be considered an asset.
- Well-developed analytical and decision-making skills, above average computer skills, superior communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven integrity, ethics and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
