The Position: Forestry Technician

Type: Full-time

Reports To: Forestry Technician Crew Lead

Key Responsibilities:

- Determine boundary and road layout for future harvesting
- Assess riparian features
- Traverse boundary and road locations for map creation
- Crossing and site plan data collection
- Ecology type identification and stratification
- Map and identify logging hazards
- Complete road engineering estimates and appraisal data field survey
- Remote camping and wilderness exploration
- Complete timber reconnaissance and stand level timber type stratification
- Assist timber cruiser in the field with data collection
- Ability to complete job duties in physically strenuous and varying terrains
- Other duties as required

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

- 1 year of Forestry-related experience
- Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset
- A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent, and a current Driver’s Abstract
- Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing required for safety sensitive positions including positions with driving responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field
- The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time
- Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs
- Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset
- A safety conscious attitude
- A love of the outdoors
