TRANSCENDENT Concussion Research Program

**TERM**: Full time (1.0 FTE) - 1 year contract with possibility of renewal

**SALARY**:Commensurate with skills and experience

**REPORTS TO**: Dr. Roger Zemek, Principal Investigator

**CHEO RI has an immediate requirement for a Post-Doctoral Fellow in concussion research.**

The TRANSCENDENT Concussion Research Program is an initiative funded by the Ontario Brain Institute aimed at improving concussion diagnosis and care. Through the TRANSCENDENT Research Program we aim to:

- Foster collaborations between researchers and healthcare professionals at leading Universities and health centres to advance concussion research and share new discoveries with those who need it most (including children and adults who have experienced concussions).
- Develop evidence-based recommendations and interventions that support the diagnosis, treatment and management of concussions. These recommendations will be shared with healthcare professionals in a timely manner to ensure that people living with concussions are receiving the most up-to-date care.
- Engage key concussion partners (for example, patients, caregivers, teachers or sport coaches) to identify opportunities for future research, policies and education.
- Educate the public about concussions in new and meaningful ways.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Under the general supervision of Dr. Roger Zemek, the Post-Doctoral Fellow will assume responsibility for:

- Design, execute, and analyze research studies,
- Collaborate with researchers to facilitate outputs of various working groups,
- Author and publish high-quality manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals,
- Present research findings at academic conferences,
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in the research.

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL, AND ABILITIES**
- University PhD degree in a relevant field (completed within the last 5 years) (Essential)
- Strong analytic skills and research methodologies (Essential)
- Strong skills in data management and analysis (Essential)
- Strong scientific writing skills with manuscript writing experience (Essential)
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and

organizational skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated collegiality, professionalism, and team skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work independently (Essential)
- Experience working with large, multi-disciplinary teams (preferred)

**Preference will be given to applicants whose training and research interests align with concussion research. Please include this information in your cover letter.**

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Flexibility to work in a hybrid work model that would include both remote work and on-site work.
- Able to collaborate with national and international researchers.

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Eligible to work in Canada;
- Compliance with CHEO RI’s Universal COVID-19 Vaccination Policy; and
- Police Record Check.
