**ESL Instructor**
**One Full Time Position**
**Contract dates: ASAP until August 31, 2025**
**35 Hours per Week; $28.28 per hour**

We proudly serve over 40,000 students across almost 100 elementary and secondary schools in Niagara, located between Lake Erie in the South and Lake Ontario to the North.
The ESL Instructor, working within the Continuing Education department, will instruct ESL classrooms, teaching English to Learners CLB Levels Pre-5+. The role will be based in Niagara Falls and operate during business hours, instructing newcomers to Canada.
- Familiarity with Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) is an asset
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on professionalism, an excitement for learning and a positive customer experience
- Ability to build professional relationships with clientele, follow up and maintain relationships
- Be adaptable, flexible and driven to achieve positive personal and team outcomes
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Lead classrooms of multi-level skills individuals, working towards English improvements and settling in the Niagara Region
- Work with multi-barriered, multi-cultural clientele in a classroom setting
- Complete assessments of skills and determine approaches to classroom instruction and direction to how to support Learners in being successful
- Maintain client records and report accordingly
- Use of technologies; MS programs, HARTs, communicate and keep documentation, video conferencing for distance meetings, using outlook, OneDrive and other online programs
- Work independently with automony to run your own classroom
- Collaborate with organizations to network and build relationships
- Conduct workshop facilitation to external organizations and clientele
- Remain flexible and accept other duties as assigned
**Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements**
- A minimum of a College Diploma in a relevant field of education
- Successful completion of the TESL Ontario Certification is a mandatory requirement
- A minimum of 1-2 years experience in instruction/facilitation, ideally with newcomers
- Strong digital technology skills and comfortability with MS Office; knowledge of the HARTs system is considered an asset
- Able to work in a multicultural setting while managing various individual needs of participants throughout a lesson
- Experience in case management, addressing barriers, goal-setting, and referrals to services would be considered assets
- Able to obtain a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check
This position is temporary and funded until August 31st 2025.
