**Envirowest Consultants Inc.**
**Job Opportunity**: Environmental Technician
**Term**: Permanent, Full-Time
**Location**: Coquitlam, BC
**Salary range**: $25-$35/ hr
Envirowest is a Canadian-owned professional consultancy committed to providing our clients state-of-the-art services in the environmental sector. The foundational approach to our work is ‘saper-vedere’ (‘to know how to see’). ‘To see’, however, is more than what is simply observed by sight alone. It is the ability to interpret what is observed, and translate that interpretation into the context of the task at hand. We engage the task fully, supporting our observations with contemporary, scientific and state-of-the-art information. Solutions integrate multiple values, and are sustainable both economically and ecologically.
Day to day activities will include:
- Conducting field activities, including: erosion and sediment control (ESC) and construction monitoring and reporting; fish and wildlife salvages and surveys; and baseline environmental assessments.
- Inspection of construction activities to ensure that works are conducted in accordance with project and environmental permitting objectives and deliverables.
- Preparation of native planting plans; inspect plants, the installation of plants, and the maintenance of plants to ensure compliance with plans.
- Carrying out water chemistry testing and analysis.
- Assistance in project planning and implementation, including reporting, quality management, and day-to-day client liaison.
- Technical assistance for acquiring environmental permits, licenses, and approvals from regulatory agencies.
- Liaison with project contractors and owners to identify and address environmental management and protection measures.
- Provision of logístical and technical support to other Envirowest staff both in the office and in the field.
- A valid driver's license
- A working understanding of pertinent environmental legislation, regulations, and guidance documents.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with particular attention to detail and accuracy of field notes/data entry.
- Enthusiastic ability to work in the field for long hours in a variety of weather conditions.
- Direct experience as an environmental technician or monitor, having had exposure to erosion and sediment control, construction monitoring, water quality testing, fish and wildlife salvages, will be considered an asset; as such salary will be commensurate with experience.
- Relevant professional accreditation (e.g., BIT/RPBio, RBTech, AScT, BC CESCL, etc.) or ability to obtain such accreditation.
We offer employee benefits, unique career opportunities, and progressive professional development.
