**Overview**:
The Community Mobile Housing Support Program provides mobile community-based assistance and services to individuals, couples, youth and families in the Nipissing district who are at risk of homelessness or homeless to find, establish and/or maintain safe, permanent and affordable housing.

Using a Housing First approach the Community Mobile Housing Support Workers provide proactive homelessness prevention support and services to assist clients to prevent the loss of safe, affordable housing, to assist clients experiencing homelessness to obtain and retain housing, to provide shelter diversion and to increase the stability of clients to reduce reliance on emergency services. Workers provide education, coaching and advocacy with the goal of increasing client skills acquisition, changing negative patterns of behaviour and establishing connections with relevant external supports with the goal of reducing the risk of chronic homelessness and enabling clients to achieve better outcomes.

**Hours of Operation**:
This position works a permanent rotating schedule of 40 hours per week, as scheduled by the Supervisor, including a rotation of days, evenings, and weekends.

**Qualifications**:

- Due to the nature of the position, applicants must be in their current position for a minimum of 12 months to apply.
- Community College Diploma or University Degree in a relevant social service area
- Thorough understanding of the homelessness landscape in the Nipissing district
- Fluent knowledge of community resource mandates, referral and access processes pertinent to this unique age group; competent systems navigation (YES, Ontario Works, CAS, community-based addictions and mental health services, education, etc.)
- Exemplary emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills; both verbal and in written format
- Excellent judgement, problem solving skills and strong decision-making ability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to form and maintain strong professional relationships
- Competence in facilitating group programming and delivering presentations and educational workshops in other CCNB programs, schools and community groups.
- Competent ability to collect/input data (HIFIS) and statistics related to homelessness
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with community partners by engaging in/contributing to various committees and collective processes (By-name list, CAB, CAN, annual PIT Count)
- Crisis prevention and intervention skills considered an asset
- Suicide intervention training considered an asset
- Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset
- Satisfactory criminal record check including Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
