By creating clear pathways for youth, especially those from equity-deserving groups, we aim to inspire future generations of engineers through innovative and impactful programming. **About the Position**: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate **Manager, Community Outreach & Engagement**for a 19-month limited term appointment, to lead our youth-focused initiatives and community programs. This role is pivotal in developing strategic outreach activities that drive diversity in engineering education, foster engagement, and create meaningful connections with our community. **Key Accountabilities**: **Strategic Leadership**: - Develop and implement comprehensive community outreach strategies aligned with departmental goals. - Lead targeted programming and initiatives to support equity-deserving groups, including female-identifying, 2SLGBTQ+, Black, and Indigenous youth. - Collaborate with internal and external partners to introduce innovative equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) strategies. **Team Leadership**: - Supervise a team of full-time staff, co-op students, and summer employees. - Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement through effective leadership practices. - Provide professional development and training opportunities to promote a diverse and inclusive workplace. **Program and Relationship Management**: - Oversee diverse programs such as workshops, after-school clubs, summer camps, and mentoring initiatives. - Establish and nurture relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, community organizations, and government agencies. - Act as a resource and advocate for STEM education among underrepresented groups. **Financial Oversight**: - Manage and analyze budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and maximum value for outreach programs. - Secure funding through grant proposals and track engagement metrics for detailed reporting. **Qualifications**: **Education**: - Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. **Experience**: - Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience including one year of supervisory experience. - Proven expertise in youth programming, stakeholder engagement, and STEM education. **Knowledge & Skills**: - Strong knowledge of EDI practices and effective outreach strategies. - Excellent communication, project management, and analytical skills. **How to Apply**: **Employment Equity Statement**: McMaster University is located on the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and Mississauga Nations and within the lands protected by the “Dish With One Spoon” wampum agreement.
