**Job Description**: **Water/Wastewater Operator III** **Public Works - Water & Wastewater** **Regular Full-Time** **CUPE Local 966** Under general supervision operates sewer flusher, flusher/vacuum and vacuum excavation equipment and performs manual and equipment operating duties in the performance of various Public Works construction, maintenance or operational functions. **_ Responsibilities_**_:_** - Performs water quality and system tests and takes corrective actions. - Performs hand excavation, backfilling, restoration brickwork and pipe laying. - Maintains, operates and inspects water distribution and wastewater collection system assets. - Assists in watermain tapping, sewer main rodding hydrant repair and CCTV inspection service. - Operates sewer flusher, flusher/vacuum and vacuum excavation equipment in the performance of water/wastewater installation and maintenance activities. - Ensures all work is performed in compliance with relevant standards, legislation and regulations. - Investigates complaints, faults or problems and determines causes and remedies. - Trains and instructs less experienced personnel in specific operations and maintenance duties. - May participate in inspections and audits - Executes duties in a tactful and courteous manner, maintains a neat appearance and performs duties in a way that conveys a "positive image" of the Region of Peel. **_ Qualifications_**_:_** - Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent - Minimum three (3) years of job-related experience - Minimum acceptable MECP certification is Wastewater Collection OIT and a Water Distribution Class 1 or Wastewater Collection Level 1 and a Water Distribution OIT preference for progressive advancement to the certification of the subsystem class level - Meter Installers Certificate preferred - Ability to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment - Ability to read, write, speak and understand English - Capable of accurately completing work forms and reports - Must have a working knowledge of computers - Must successfully complete regulatory training and mandatory retraining courses - Physically able to perform requirements of the job - Possess a Class “DZ” license in good standing with preference for “AZ” **Location**:2 Copper Road, Brampton, ON **Hours of Work**:40 hours per week **Interview**: Our recruitment process will be completed with video conference technology. **As part of the Region’s ongoing commitment to health and safety, there are enhanced Covid-19 specific safety protocols and/or personal protective equipment requirements (e.g. masks, eye protection, etc.) in place to help protect health and safety.
