Service Person's Helper

The Serviceperson’s Helper is required to assist the Serviceperson perform skilled tasks in the mechanical service and maintenance of Heavy Construction Equipment as well as promote and participate in Goal Zero Initiative. The Serviceperson’s Helper is also responsible for cleaning the shop and completing labourer tasks. The goal for this position is within 1-2 years that it will turn into a full-time Serviceperson position, dependent on the success of the employee in the Helper role.

**Duties/Tasks**
- Positively participate in company safety program and adhere to all safety requirements.
- Provide routine maintenance of Heavy Construction Equipment.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Perform services on equipment in the field and in the shop when required.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Maintain company provided vehicle.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
- Ability to learn wide variety of fluid requirements per equipment
- Other mechanical repair work as required.
- Labourer/cleaning tasks as required.
**Knowledge/Skills**
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work well under pressure and high level of problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Comfortable communicating with a wide variety of field staff to find current job sites, crews, or equipment movement.
- Able to operate a large variety of equipment for servicing requirements.
**Experience/Education**
- Must hold a Class 5 Driver’s License and an Air Brake Certificate. Class 3 license would be considered an asset.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations.
- WHMIS training.
- Knowledge of city, surrounding areas, and truck routes considered an asset.
