NATURE OF WORK
The Human Resources Advisor, Health & Safety will develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (including the Organizational Coordinator of Health, Safety and Wellness, school principals, Community Education Administrators, Material Resources, School Operations, Information & Technology, Human Resources team, etc.) in order to better identify needs and appropriate solutions regarding the management of health & safety as it pertains to the services provided by the Human Resources Department across the Cree School Board.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Participate in coaching, developing, and supervising staff when necessary.
Pursue own professional development in order to enhance personal and organizational capacity, as well as meet the changing needs of the organization.
Represent department and organization, as required.
Any other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
Departmental responsibilities
Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives and action plans regarding the management of health & safety as it pertains to the services provided by the Human Resources Department across the Cree School Board.
Participate in the development and implementation of up-to-date efficient and effective systems, databases / files and administrative standards that respond to the needs of the school board.
Contribute to the development and implementation of health & safety processes, procedures, and policies and adapt these when necessary to specific contexts to help them attain compliance to CSB measures.
Participate in the development and implementation of relevant programs. Monitor customer satisfaction and liaise with program owner for adjustments.
Establish and maintain effective communications and relations with employees, managers, other stakeholders across the CSB and external stakeholders.
Role-specific responsibilities
Develop awareness and information tools, as well as ensure that those provided by the CNESST are implemented appropriately and regularly within workplace areas (such as sanitation standards guides, quick reference guides, checklists and poster summarizing preventive measures, etc.).
Liaison with the CSB, the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB), the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) officials, and other services or external stakeholders. as it pertains to the services provided by the Human Resources Department.
Assist claims management with employees and the CNESST, investigate workplace incidents or accidents, prepare necessary documentation, and do necessary follow ups.
Provide resources and guidance for schools and services that should be implemented on an ongoing basis. Deliver health and safety training courses to promote health and safety.
Participate in the Wellness program, including administration of the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
Communicate on an ongoing basis with local CSB stakeholders so that proper procedures and tools are in place to ensure compliance with norms and regulations and to support in identifying risks in the workplace and developing action plans accordingly.
Sit on the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing adequate health and safety measures to maximize prevention (outbreaks or other emergency situations) in schools and other CSB offices.
Act as the primary information contact point within HR in case of outbreak or emergency situations to ensure up to date information and regulations are communicated to relevant stakeholders within the CSB.
May be called to perform any other related duties.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior executive or senior staff position, excluding a manager position, in a board.
Three (3) years of relevant experience.
Fluency in English and French is required, Cree is a definite asset.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office essential.
Previous experience working with stakeholder engagement (communication, identification and implementation support) is an asset.
Previous experience implementing preventive measures in the context of health crises or outbreaks is an asset.
Strong technical knowledge in the relevant areas of Human Resources, specifically health & safety management.
Solid leadership skills with strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to build trust.
Solid planning and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across all levels and functions of the Cree School Board and to develop strong organizational knowledge and relationships.
Results oriented with problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
