Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Child & Youth Care Worker will ensure that the developmental, treatment, and psycho-social needs of children, youth, and families are met through active involvement in assessment and therapeutic interventions.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide a combination of individual service delivery, case management, and group programming support to children, youth, and families, in alignment with the philosophy, values, and goals of Dilico Anishinabek Family Care. This work supports the overall social, emotional, and physical well-being of clients within a culturally responsive and supportive environment.

The Child & Youth Care Worker is responsible for coordinating the delivery of integrated services from initial assessment through to discharge, ensuring comprehensive and consistent care for all assigned clients receiving services from the agency.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Strong understanding of child and youth development, mental health and wellness, and family systems.
- Skills in behavioural support, crisis de-escalation, and safety planning, using non-violent and collaborative strategies.
- Sound knowledge of the Anishinabek culture and the principle issues affecting the mental health of Anishinabek children, families and communities in the City and District of Thunder Bay
- must be able to follow direction and work with little or no supervision as may be required.
- Ability to conduct client interviews, assessments, referrals, group facilitation and group therapy.
- knowledge and understanding of the Child and Family Services Act and the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.
- knowledge of community agencies/resources
- Ability to advocate for Aboriginal children, adolescents and families within the community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team;s. good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work within the policies, standards, procedures and the vision, mission and core values of Dilico Anishinabek Family Care.
- Good knowledge of the Anishinabek culture and issues affecting Anishinabek children, families and communities in and around the district of Thunder Bay;

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working directly with children and youth experiencing emotional, behavioural, developmental, or mental health challenges.
- Experience providing individual and group programming, behavioural support, and crisis intervention in school, community, or residential settings.
- Experience working within an Indigenous organization or community context is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing strength-based intervention plans, implementing therapeutic and skill-building activities, and supporting families and caregivers.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Search; including Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel within the Thunder Bay District as determined by the Program Manager in relation to service requirements.
- Must posses a Class “G” Driver’s Licence and have access to a personal vehicle.
- A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is recommended.
- Able to complete and maintain certification in CANS and other relevant Ministry of Children and Youth Services initiatives

**Hours of Work**:32.5 weekly
