**Job Synopsis**

The Sam’s Place (SP) Operations Associate is responsible for the successful operations of Sam’s Place, a social enterprise of MCC Manitoba. The SP Operations Associate will report to the Director of Social Enterprise while working closely with the Kitchen and Front of House Lead Supervisor and the Youth Program Coordinator. The SP Operations Associate is a member the Sam’s Place unit within the larger Social Enterprise department (SE). The SE department works collaboratively with provincial colleagues and other departments within MCC Manitoba.
The SP Operations Associate has an extensive business knowledge relating to finance, people, product, and profit. They will oversee and manage some of the operational, financial and administrative tasks that support the business.

Sam’s Place is a social enterprise coffeeshop that supports MCC Manitoba's mission by providing job training and work experience to local youth while serving ethically sourced coffee and locally produced goods. SP is a social enterprise of MCC Manitoba that equips and empowers young people to overcome barriers by bridging the gap toward meaningful employment.

**Qualifications**
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, non-profit management or equivalent experience
- Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities
- Proficiency in Square POS system and Microsoft Excel preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with people of all ages and backgrounds, building healthy teams and community relationships
- 1-3 years experience in customer service and business management preferred.
- Budget management experience required
- A healthy balance of patience, grace and energy
- Experience in the food or hospitality industry (front of house) required
- Food Handler's certificate or willingness to acquire
- Experience planning events an asset
- Open to a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Valid Manitoba Driver's license necessary
- Successful police record check and Vulnerable Sector Scan required

**Key Responsibilities**

**Contact/Relationships**:
The SP Operations Associate will contribute as an active member of the Social Enterprise team under the direction of the Social Enterprise Director. They will engage and collaborate with the whole MCC Manitoba staff team, overseeing operational and financial priorities during the term contract for the coffeeshop. The Associate will build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of community members, Sam’s Place
staff, MCC colleagues and constituency, volunteers, suppliers, like businesses, and organizations in the process of their work.

**Supervision**: None.

**Complexity**:
The SP Operations Associate will need a strong understanding of business best practices, with emphasis on financial and operational priorities to support the viability of the coffeeshop business.

**Independent Action**:
The SP Operations Associate must be a motivator, team player, and self-starter able to multitask. Sets and monitors operation and business benchmarks as part of the yearly Sam’s Place workplan.
The SP Operations Associate would collaboratively work on shared projects involving other areas of MCC Manitoba, working towards achieving business goals and profit objectives independently from other MCC operational goals. Some operational objectives may intersect with MCCM staff for larger initiatives/projects as planned by the Directorof Social enterprise and the organization.

**Initiative and Ingenuity**:
In collaboration with the Director of social enterprise and the SP Team, The Operations Associate will have the Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to business challenges, such as developing new revenue streams or improving operational efficiency

**Communication/Interpersonal Skills**:
The SP Operations Associate must have effective communication skills that can provide guidance and direction in a positive way. The SP Operations Coordinator will build relationships with MCC staff, Sam’s Place staff, Program Participants, Volunteers, Customers, Partner Organizations, Neighboring Businesses, Funders, and more. Conversation and collaboration are key parts of the role.

**Mental/Physical/Visual Demand**:
Must be able to carry boxes of café supplies. Required to be on feet on café floor as needed. Will spend a lot of time on the computer.

**End Result**:
The SP Operations Associate is responsible for operational and financial tasks that contribute to the successful performance of the Social Enterprise providing customers with an outstanding experience connecting the service and products to how we support our Youth Program through a sense of welcoming hospitality.
