**PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION**

The HSEC Superintendent is responsible for leading, managing and implementing all health safety and training initiatives across the site.

The HSEC Superintendent will demonstrate DMC’s core values of: Zero Harm, Win-Win Client Relationships, People Development and Innovation.

**SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Lead the development and implementation of health and safety objectives, processes, programs and initiatives across the sites.
- Ensure health, safety and security programs and supporting plans are developed, communicated, implemented and reviewed; advise and support the site team on such matters.
- Coordinate with site teams to continually improve health safety, and security performance through the identification of risks and opportunities. Manage, review and assess health & safety data as a tool for continuous improvement.
- Together with the site leadership team, lead and support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health, Safety and Security programs to mitigate risk, prevent injuries, meet regulatory requirements and protect people, property and the environment across the sites.
- Facilitate and participate in the development, implementation and ongoing review of risk assessments, the site risk register and control plans.
- Designs and documents creative training solutions as required by the organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Develops training materials including participant guides, leader guides, job aids, and other resources that effectively support participants' achievement of the instructional objectives and provides training.
- Keeps up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all the Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect the global mining industry.
- Collects and analyzes monthly and quarterly HSE and Training statistics and develop reports.
- Facilitates the investigation of incidents, accidents and injuries and assures the compilation and submittal of accident / incident reports required by DMC Mining Services and regulatory agencies, when required.
- Represents the organization in the communities that DMC Mining Services operates and coordinates information and training on new products, product updates, vision and messaging, competitive analysis, new systems & tools.
- Utilizes DMC’s Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) Management Systems Standards develops Project-Specific HSEC Execution Plans

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- 770121 First Line Supervisor Underground Common Core
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an HSEC Supervisory role within the Mining Industry
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Underground Mining
- 2 years’ experience as HSEC Superintendent
- Qualified in Underground, Surface, Mill and Train-the-Trainer
- CRSP designation is a definite asset
- In-depth knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other related regulations.
- Ability to achieve stakeholder buy-in and proven ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legislative and regulatory factors relating to mining industry
- Familiar with risk assessment, confined space and management of change programs
- Experience in developing employee-based safety teams for Emergency Response and Mine Rescue
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving and written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software is a **requirement
