**JOB OVERVIEW**
- Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Planning & Cost Control Technician.- Reporting to the Manager, Contracts Management Office, this position is responsible for providing technical planning, scheduling, cost control and project management assistance to various groups, including activities such as, develop logical work sequences, resource requirements and allocations, prepare and maintain resource flowed, resource leveled schedules, monitor progress, prepare reports, to support operating, engineering, outage and project work planning, identify and resolve potential problems, recommending opportunities to improve the planning & control process.- This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG’s public outreach, engagement and education efforts as part of the company’s commitment to growing its social license.**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Provide assistance to section and station staff to plan work (e.g. FLM, Cost & Scheduling, Cost & Scheduling Analyst, Work Week Leader, System Window Coordinator, Project Manager, Work Coordinator). a. Recommend a logical work sequence and appropriate cost and resource allocation for designated work/projects. b. Provide guidance e.g. through attendance at planning meetings: to identify and resolve potential problems related to planning work/projects; to understand special technical and work requirements as they relate to planning work/projects; on an ongoing basis, identify real and potential scheduling problems and recommend opportunities to improve logical work sequence and resource allocation to the mutual satisfaction of all work groups.
- Assist the preparation of cost and schedule estimates for capital and OM&A projects identified on Plan schedules. Obtain estimating and scheduling assumptions from Manager or designated source, gather balance of information, and develop estimates and schedules, using selected computerized models. Factor changes into required revisions as received from work groups. Forward work to Manager and appropriate engineer for review and approval. As assigned, work with external groups to develop estimates at each phase.
- Develop logic and prepare and maintain cost flowed, resource-leveled schedules, including: a. Prepare daily work programs for all plant conditions, as well as long terms plans and work programs used for commissioning, operation, maintenance, modification and installation of plant equipment and facilities. b. Prepare commissioning, operating, maintenance and rehabilitation schedules in accordance with assignment outline provided, and based on the review and analysis of various data, established maintenance, operating and or commissioning and project management procedures, availability of resources such as personnel and materials and within the limits of established priorities and conditions. c. Obtain pertinent technical data as well as time commitments from appropriate work units. d. As directed, collaborate with technical, trades, production staff and others in establishing a logical work sequence and appropriate resource allocation. e. Amalgamate all the data gathered into a logical work sequence and submit for supervisory approval. Using computerized, as well as manual systems, translate approved work sequences into schedules, resources and cost forecasts, and work programs. f. Compare final proposals with schedules and work programs developed for past similar circumstances, or established procedure(s), as a check to substantiate logic of proposed schedules or work program. Set up work events and cost accounts within computerized cost and budget system. g. Submit proposed schedule or work program for line management review and approval. h. Aggregate sub-schedules and information including providing guidance to others to ensure outputs are consistent with requirements. i. Review and analyze technical and other data, previous plans and sub-project overviews, work plan technical data, established operating, commissioning and m
