Accounting Manager

We are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Finance department, reporting to our Head of Finance in our Toronto Head Office. This individual will be responsible for accounting and financial functions, and directly manage Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payable functions, assigning tasks and reviewing work to others within the department. They will also work as part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the financial close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Accurate and timely production of financial information including monthly legal entity and consolidated financial statements, statutory reporting, filings and bank reporting.
- Management of the monthly close process and month end balances reconciliations.
- Preparation of budget and forecasts models.
- Full cycle accounting management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, fixed assets, and other accounting processes.
- Treasury management including the review, approval and processing of employee, supplier, and other 3rd party wire transfers, electronic funds transfers (EFT), e-transfers, and direct tax payments to ensure timely and accurate settlement of liabilities.
- Oversee the annual physical inventory count process to ensure accuracy, completeness, valuation, and timeliness for the year-end close.
- Management of annual external audit and tax returns preparation.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual insurance renewal process; compiling, preparing and submitting information.
- Management of monthly bailment reconciliation process to ensure timely, accurate and reliable reporting in support of company’s bailment facility requirements.
- Manage, coach, and mentor direct reports.

**EDUCATION AND TRAINING**
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA (CGA or CMA) certification preferred.

**EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL SKILLS, AND KEY COMPETENCIES**
- Public Accounting experience, an asset.
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management.
- Bilingual in English and French, an asset but not a requirement.
- Strong knowledge of computerized ERP / Accounting systems.
- Good team player with excellent communication skills (verbal and written) at all levels within and outside the organization.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, while working under tight deadlines.
- Sound organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify and correct root cause problems.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
