**Position** Barista

**Reporting** This role has a dual reporting structure. This role reports into our Chef/Culinary Manager and our Operations Manager.

**Company** We are opening a Bistro (café style) in the Ottawa area, offering a variety of delicious food and drink options tailored to busy business professionals.

**Salary**: Starting at $38,000 annually.

As our Barista, you will be responsible to assist with our Bistro operations, with a core focus on providing excellent customer service. Your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Greeting customers warmly, taking orders accurately, and providing recommendations based on customer preferences.
- Ensuring timely service while maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
- Keeping the café and workstations clean, sanitized, and organized at all times, following health and safety guidelines. This includes cleaning equipment, wiping surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
- Operating coffee brewing equipment, grinders, and other machinery safely and efficiently. Performing routine maintenance tasks and troubleshooting equipment issues as needed.
- Skillfully prepare a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and specialty drinks, adhering to our recipes and quality standards.
- Handling cash and electronic transactions accurately, processing payments and providing change and receipts to customers. This includes assisting the Operations Manager with reconciling sales at the end of each shift.
- Assisting with monitoring inventory levels and replenishing stock as needed.
- Assisting with all opening and closing duties related to the restaurant including being responsible to implement and/or adjust opening and closing procedures for the front of house (barista station).
- Gathering feedback from customers and sharing that information with our management team.

**What we are looking for**:

- You will be the main point of contact for all of our customers as they enter the café/restaurant.
- Working on-site, Monday through Friday (daytime, 8-hour shifts). We will be offering catering and therefore, some overtime and weekend work may be required from time to time.
- Food Handling Certification is an asset but is not required.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
- 2+ years working in a similar role.
