Position Summary:
The **General Manager** is responsible for the efficient, professional and profitable operation of The Tribute Communities Centre. In addition to managing the day-to-day business operations, the General Manager will be responsible for soliciting new sources of revenue, both on and off the venue property. Reporting to the District General Manager and the Senior Vice President, the General Manager will be responsible for overall management, promotion, and operation of the facility, including construction, purchasing, policy administration, booking, marketing, finance, food and beverage, box office, advertising, security, production, maintenance, and related operations for an Arena/Complex. This position is responsible for the development, coordination and management of all aspects and strategies for the arena's entertainment events.

This role pays an annual salary of $150,000 to $175,000 CAD and is bonus eligible.

About the Venue:
Oak View Group is currently seeking a General Manager for the Tribute Communities Centre located in Oshawa, Ontario. Owned by the City of Oshawa and proudly managed by Oak View Group, the Tribute Communities Centre is a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facility which in 2024 welcomed over 411,000 guests through its doors over 111 events which included Oshawa Generals OHL hockey, live events such as Disney on Ice, City and Colour, and Lainey Wilson, as well as various sporting and community events.

**Responsibilities**:

- Evaluates existing policies and procedures and recommends improvements that will better reflect the needs of the facility and/or improve the efficiency and safety of operations
- Oversees and approves all activities regarding maintaining and operating the facility
- Conducts weekly staff meetings and monthly client meetings
- Oversees and approves a detailed operating budget
- Responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating Director level staff
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with City of Oshawa organizations, personnel, media, lessees, employees, and the public
- Aggressively promotes the use of the facility to maximize its utilization and negotiates lease agreements as determined necessary and in the best interests of the facility
- Oversees the development of standard operating procedures for all operational functions of the facility, e.g., marketing, finance, box office, operations/maintenance, administration, suites, ice programing, food and beverage, and related areas
- Oversees the preparation of required and necessary reports/records for the city and/or corporate
- Meets regularly with Director of Operations to discuss event and back-of-house needs and issues
- Meets regularly with Director of Finance to discuss all financial information and issues
- Meets regularly with Director of Events and Ice Programing to discuss event and ice programing issues and needs
- Meets regularly with Director of Marketing to discuss publicity, show promotion, suite sales, and Group Experiences issues and needs
- Meets regularly with Assistant General Manager to discuss overall facility issues
- Meets regularly with The City of Oshawa’s Contract Administrator to discuss operation and budget of facility
- Engages Promoters including but not limited to Live Nation to bring high level events and concerts to the venue
- Works alongside the Oshawa Generals OHL Hockey Club on matters relating to ticket sales, operations, and marketing
- Oversees RFP’s and RFQ’s for essential services such as ticketing, pouring rights, sponsorships and pizza rights
- Oversees capital planning for the facility
- Knowledge and experience in collective bargaining and working within a unionized environment

Qualifications:

- Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, facility management, public administration or related fields required, with a minimum of seven years progressive and responsible experience in the supervision and/or management of a large multi-purpose facility
- The ability to research, develop and maintain relationships with artist agents, artist management as well as local, regional and national promoters. Any existing relations with concert promoters or agencies would be considered an asset.
