**Job Summary**

The Customs Agent is responsible for coordinating the customs release process for shipments for all modes of transit. This includes reviewing and processing customs documentation, ensuring Canada Border releases and confirmations, and delivering consistent customer service to exceed client expectations. The role requires adherence to company policies while managing the customs process efficiently and effectively.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Process CBSA releases for shipments accurately and promptly, including ocean and high-value shipments.
- Review invoices, manifests, and supporting documents to ensure compliance with customs and corporate regulations.
- Enter data from commercial invoices and other documentation into the ITMR4 operating system.
- Monitor shipment status and address rejects or discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Ensure client instructions are accurately followed and recorded in the system.
- Prepare and submit paper release packages to Canada Customs as required.
- Communicate with CBSA, other government departments, clients, carriers, and vendors to gather additional information and expedite clearances.
- Address client inquiries regarding shipment releases, statuses, and delivery arrangements.
- Classify the products with proper HS tariffs and update the master database.
- Understand and obtain information to transmit SWI PGA information at the time of release
- Accurately process CBSA releases for air, ocean, road, rail, pipeline high-value shipments in a timely manner.
- Review invoices, manifests, and supporting documents to ensure compliance with customs and corporate regulations.
- Enter data from commercial invoices and supporting documents into the ITMR4 operating system with precision.
- Coordinate with clients, carriers, and vendors to gather additional information or resolve issues in a courteous and professional manner
- Monitor “last day” reports to confirm timely entry completions with CBSA.
- Pay any COD charges listed and arrange delivery logistics when necessary.
- Obtain required customs paperwork, such as commercial invoices, from customers when needed.
- Various other duties as may be required

**Qualifications**
- Knowledge of Customs Tariff, regulations and release procedures
- Knowledge and/or experience in a customs brokerage or freight forwarding industry
- Accurate data entry skills
- Strong research/analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to exercise good judgement to solve problems
- Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills in English
- Well-organized and self-motivated
- Able to deal with changing priorities
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially in Excel

**Educations/Certifications**
- High School Diploma
- Customs Certified Specialist (CCS) designation - an asset
