**The opportunity**:
The role involves developing compelling and original content for both internal and external audiences, including faculty, students, alumni, the business community, and the broader public. The copywriter supports a wide array of communication needs, from feature stories for UM Today and media releases to speechwriting and marketing materials for digital and print platforms. Their work is critical in advancing the School’s priorities, including its AACSB accreditation efforts, by delivering clear, consistent, and strategic messaging that reflects the School’s values and enhances its public image.
**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
- A University degree in communications, literature, and/or creative communications required
- Minimum two years' experience writing, proofreading, editing, marketing and communications, journalism or as a writing instructor is required
- Proven experience as a copywriter is required
- Experience conducting interviews for the purpose of developing written content required.
- Speech writing experience is considered an asset
- Knowledge of University regulations and experience in an Academic environment preferred, or experience in a not-for-profit work environment is considered an asset
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, and the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and patience to work in harmony with all levels of faculty, staff, students and the public is required
- A creative and innovative approach to communications is required
- Proven ability to independently prioritize work and meet deadlines, organizational and time management skills required
- Proven and strong attention to detail is essential
- Professional communication skills, written and verbal, are essential
- An ability to understand and develop a consistent brand narrative while considering communications nuances between audiences required
- Ability to make sound independent judgments and utilize problem-solving abilities required
- Ability to learn and retain detailed information quickly required
- Ability to organize and manage projects and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and other communication professionals is required
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision required
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required

Pay: $52,470.60-$73,946.60 per year
