**About the Role**
We are seeking a results-driven **Category Manager** to lead the strategy, execution, and performance of our Grocery Department categories. Acting as the business owner for your category, you’ll ensure a well-balanced product assortment, competitive pricing, impactful merchandising, and strong vendor relationships. This is a key role for someone who thrives on combining analytical skills with creativity to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
**What You’ll Do**
- **Product Assortment**: Curate and manage a product mix that reflects consumer needs, market trends, and seasonal demands.
- **Market Analysis**: Research customer behavior, competitor activity, and industry trends to identify growth opportunities.
- **Sales & Performance**: Track category sales, margins, and KPIs; address underperformance with corrective actions.
- **Supplier & Vendor Relations**: Build and maintain strong partnerships, lead contract negotiations, and manage pricing/terms.
- **Pricing & Promotions**: Develop competitive pricing strategies and collaborate on promotional campaigns, flyers, and in-store displays.
- **Merchandising**: Oversee product presentation in-store and online to improve traffic and the customer experience.
- **Strategic Planning**: Create and execute long-term strategies to achieve sustainable growth and financial goals.
**What We’re Looking For**
- **Experience**: 3-5 years in category management, merchandising, or buying (grocery industry preferred).
- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field (asset).
- **Analytical Strength**: Ability to analyze sales data, financial reports, and market trends.
- **Strategic Thinker**: Skilled in planning for long-term growth and competitive advantage.
- **Negotiation Skills**: Proven ability to secure favorable vendor terms.
- **Marketing & Sales Insight**: Understanding of promotions, consumer behavior, and product positioning.
- **Customer Focus**: Ability to align offerings with customer expectations.
- **Collaboration**: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; success working cross-functionally.
