We are currently looking for a Full-Time Research and Development Chef to join our culinary team based in Mississauga, Ontario. We strive to put the hospitality back into the food manufacturing aspect of the industry and it is expected that we maintain a level of pride for the products we produce. Your main duties will involve preparing samples and presentations for clients, analyzing product builds and line assembly setups for efficiencies, and developing recipes for clients. Due to the nature of our projects, in-depth knowledge of food ingredients, process engineering, food production facilities, equipment utilization, and relevant quality standard requirements will be preferred, but the work ethics to strive for continuous improvement will be crucial in this role.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Development of recipes using client specifications, facility limitations, and costs as guidelines.
- Ensuring the product is developed properly based on culinary, technical hurdles and shelf-life.
- Prepares high-quality food item samples according to recipes and instructions, while ensuring compliance with current good manufacturing practices.
- Analyze product recipes and instructions for process improvement and efficiencies.
- Record and document variables at each stage of research conducted.
- Complete administrative tasks in organizing ingredients, recipe input and data validation.
- Management of resources and budget on a project basis.
- Practice proper labeling and ensuring product is being used FIFO.
- Cleans kitchen after preparation, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organization.
- Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
- Assists in the requisition and receiving of all food and supplies if required.
- Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
- Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

**Qualifications**

**Work Experience**:

- 4 years of culinary experience or Red Seal Cook certification preferred.
- Food science background
- Previous experience of R&D Chef is required.

**Skills and Knowledge**:

- Willingness to learn and investigate
- Strong culinary knowledge
- Understanding of large-scale production and assembly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift 50 lb.
- Understanding of HACCP and basic food safety standards
- Clear understanding of Hospitality and Service and the Customer Experience
- Diverse/multi-cultural interpersonal Skills
- Process oriented and results driven
- Current in the latest food production techniques
- Ability to work in temperature-controlled environment
- Fluent English (written & verbal)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Basic understanding of algebra and statistics
