Backhoe Operator

Our company is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. We are looking for Backhoe Operator.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform road work, excavation work, lifting work and knowledge of rigging;
- Operate and control the equipment safely in changing ground conditions;
- Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, work sites or traffic laws;
- Complete daily inspection checklists;
- Respond to signals and directions by the staff and work in coordination with them;
- Working in tight work areas and in close proximity of workers, underground utilities, overhead power lines and the general public;
- Perform safety, maintenance or servicing checks to ensure proper functioning of the equipment;
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill tanks;
- Perform other duties, as and when assigned;
- Inform and advise the management or repairmen for major repairs or maintenance;
- Safe operation of equipment.

**Requirements**:

- Must have physical ability to stand strenuous and dangerous work environmental;
- ability to work in a team;
- Must have previous earthworks equipment operator experience;
- Must be accustomed to operating in challenging terrain and/or near other equipment;
- Possess physical strength to operate heavy and power-driven equipment;
- Ability to complete work projects on time and in an effective manner;
- Must have experience in hand signals and radio communication;
- A keen eye to details and good decision making skills;
- Must be fluent in English - speak, read and write;
- Manage to handle emergency situations, work pressure and stress;
- Must have an acute awareness of surroundings including under, above and around you;
- Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written.

Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week

- Charlottetown, PE: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Heavy Equipment Operators: 2 years (required)
