DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Form the time of award work with others to prepare all equipment and “scheme” the job. This may include site layout planning and scheduling of work to execute the work in the most efficient manner possible.
- Develop pre and post-shipping procedures to ensure equipment is ready at the time of receipt and document the testing of and condition of equipment at time of shipping and receiving both in the workshop and at the jobsite.
- Setup, test and maintain the jobsite and prepare the TBM.
- Work with personnel and other superintendents and foremen to maintain forward progress on the project, including preparing for future work during ongoing work and maintaining awareness of men and material needs as the work progresses.
- Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
- Attend and participate in planning and scheduling meetings and existing and future work-loads.
- Operate TBM on various projects and pass along knowledge through on the job training.
- Responsible for quality and strict adherence to all safety standards in order to achieve the most efficient operation as possible including setup, placement of men and gear, TBM and support gear.
- Other duties as assigned.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- 10+ years of progressive experience working on all aspects of mechanical MTBM or TBM equipment and related components.
- Technically able to assemble new machines, troubleshoot break downs or failures, perform repairs or overhauls and is experienced with planning and maintaining a preventative maintenance program for all tunneling related equipment.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to plan, organize and lead teams of field personnel including TBM Technicians, Mechanics and third party technicians.
- Intermediate skill level across all common Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Project), as well as Sharepoint and cloud based software.
- Strong communication skills; able to pair leadership and communication skills to positively influence or motivate others.
- Able to travel across Canada as required by the projects.
EDUCATION
- Trade certified in Heavy Duty Mechanics, Millwright or has specific technical training on TBM from global manufacturer.
LANGUAGES
- Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
