Position Information:
Regional Support Associates, in association with Woodstock Hospital, offers inter-disciplinary clinical and specialized services informed by our expertise within Behavioural Consultation, Case Management, Psychology, Psychiatry, Primary Health Care, Speech and Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and trauma informed care for people with intellectual disabilities across the Southwest Region of Ontario.
Working to promote Regional Support Associate’s (RSA) vision and values within the West Region of Ontario. The Community Health Care Consultant will use an outreach approach to focus on the improvement of a person’s health and mental healthcare needs through system navigation and advocacy by collaborating with clinical and specialized services within the developmental, mental health and primary health care sectors. This role has a specific focus on capacity building through training and education. Position includes the review, assessment, consultation and intervention of clients who have intellectual and developmental disabilities who are experiencing psychological, behavioural and medical difficulties which are beyond the scope of their caregivers to address. The incumbent is a Registered Nurse who will offer a range of services with health and social services expertise. Extensive experience in the field of developmental services is required.
EDUCATION:
- The registered nurse graduated from an accredited School of Nursing who is registered or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
EXPERIENCE:
- Preferably three years’ experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities, including collaborating with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those who support them.
- Experience in health care, mental health and/or social services.
- Experience in developing presentations and delivering training.
SKILLS:
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to handle and respect confidential information with tact and diplomacy are essential.
- Development and delivery of presentations and training.
- Ability to work autonomously, seeking clinical supervision as needed
- Demonstrated ability in adherence to client rights, understanding client’s ability to direct care, client confidentiality and utilizing best practice care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Ability to lead and communicate effectively using a person centered approach
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
- A valid Driver’s License, with a minimum G2 standing, and access to a reliable automobile for extensive travel throughout Southwestern Ontario
- Satisfactory vulnerable person’s sector criminal background check
- Commitment to Patient Care & Safety and Service Excellence
