**The Division**

**Position Description**:
This is a district-wide position, encompassing students and families from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. The purpose of the Indigenous Liaison is to impact school completion and student achievement by facilitating an understanding of the social and cultural elements that impact the educational experience of Indigenous students, and providing specific social supports for priority Indigenous students identified through collaborations between schools and Student Services.

Working with school teams within a consultative and collaborative model duties may include:

- Delivering a continuum of services that includes consultation and targeted intervention with students and families.
- Advocate for students’ needs with teachers, administrators, parents, and other professionals
- Serves as a liaison between home and school
- Help to provide a voice for parents in supporting communication with school staff
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to help meet the educational, social, emotional, and communication needs of students
- Referral and navigation of community resources and advocacy for student and family needs
- Providing cultural development for students and staff
