Supporting the Finance Director, the Assistant Controller will support the financial accounting and reporting activities of the organization. In this position, you help with both month-end and year-end financial closing activities, including reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries and financial statements for reporting.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform month-end reconciliations, accruals, reporting, and analysis
- Prepare journal entries for the general ledger
- Prepare financial statements for reporting purposes
- Assist in the annual budget process
- Review of bank and cash transactions daily
- Help implement internal control measures to ensure compliance
- Prepare sales tax filings
- Ad hoc assignments and projects assigned by management

Qualifications:

- Has obtained or is working towards CPA designation
- A minimum of 1-3 years experience in comparable role
- Knowledge and understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, accounting policies and procedures
- Detail oriented and a strong understanding of principles of planning, organizing and problem solving
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
- Ability to meet departmental deadlines including month-end reports, reconciliations and other time sensitive work is essential
- Able to work efficiently, independently and as part of a team
- Strong computer skills, with an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
