Your Opportunity:
Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for an HCA position on their acute care units Wetaskiwin is a large rural hospital, and you will have the opportunity to work on all four acute care units. The acute care units range from 18 to 25 beds with the prospect of working both surgical and medical. As an HCA you will provide a variety of services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize critical thinking, problem solving and decision making. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means “the hills where peace was made”. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year-round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.
