**Support Care Worker** Beccarian Correctional Care At Beccarian Correctional Care, we are dedicated to reducing recidivism and enhancing rehabilitation through innovative, whole-person care models that address the complex needs of incarcerated individuals. Our programs utilize a community-as-method therapeutic model, fostering responsibility, accountability, and healthy relationships to prepare individuals for successful reintegration into society. We offer structured Therapeutic Living Units (TLUs) and Transitional Service (TS) programs across Alberta, providing comprehensive support that includes vocational training, family reintegration assistance, and relapse prevention planning. By building recovery capital, we empower individuals to achieve lasting recovery and lead fulfilling lives. We are currently seeking a Support Care Worker to join our team in the Therapeutic Living Units (TLU) in Red Deer. TLUs are unique Therapeutic Communities within correctional settings, providing inmates (members) an opportunity for evidence-based care for substance use disorders. As a Support Care Worker, you play a crucial role in supporting the "community as method" process. Working alongside TLU members, you participate equally in various activities like recreation, and chores, emphasizing membership and modeling behavior. **Role-specific Accountabilities** - **Ongoing Support**:Provide consistent encouragement and care to members, assisting them with evening activities and promoting a sense of well-being. - **Program Engagement**:Inspire and assist clients in actively participating in a range of activities, including therapy sessions, group meetings, work-as-therapy initiatives, and recreational programs. - **Meeting Facilitation**:Lead and participate in AA, NA, and SMART Recovery meetings, ensuring members feel supported and engaged. - **Member Monitoring**:Keep a vigilant watch over members' well-being, reporting any concerns or notable progress to the Senior Care Team Lead. This input will help inform necessary adjustments to recovery and risk management plans. - **Crisis Management**:Assist clinical staff in managing crisis situations, playing an active role in maintaining a secure environment for all members. - **Community Building**:Cultivate a positive community atmosphere that encourages mutual respect, understanding, and peer support among members. **Qualifications** - Previous experience in a caregiving role is essential, preferably in mental health, addiction recovery, or a related healthcare field. - Demonstrated ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds through strong communication and empathetic interaction. - Identified work experience in a therapeutic setting, including demonstrated knowledge of problematic substance use and mental health issues. - Proven track record of handling sensitive situations with empathy and discretion. - Lived experience related to addictions and/or mental health and correctional work experience or corrections lived experience an asset. **Conditions of Employment** - Successfully complete and pass a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Record Check prior to initiating employment and annually thereafter. - Clearance to be on premises by the Director of the Correctional Facility. **Job Type**: Part-time Flexible language requirement: - French not required Schedule: - Evening shift - Weekends as needed **Experience**: - Support Care: 1 year (required) - Addiction Recovery: 1 year (required) Work Location: In person
