**Casual position**
**10 hours per week; 3 hours on Tuesdays (4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)**
**Term effective August 12/25 to March 27/26**
**This position is contingent upon external funding**
**Job Summary**:
This community program for prenatal and new parents under the age of 21, and their children, requires a general assistant. This position is an integral component of our community-based drop-in program. The individual will be energetic, love working with young children, work well in a team environment and be respectful of young parents’ strengths and challenges.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Be flexible and work closely with the site team under the direction of the facilitator. This will include assisting with:
- Site set up, meal preparation, child minding and cleanup
- Providing a fun and positive environment for the parents and children
- Maintaining an orderly, safe, and clean environment
- Other site duties as assigned
Future duties may include additional hours as needed and agreed upon to assist the facilitator with programming.
This may include:
- Networking and/or attending meetings and reporting back to the facilitator
- Supporting young parents in accessing other community services/programs
- Assisting parents with credit course work as directed by the facilitator
- Preparing resources for programming
**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Training and/or experience in related areas
- Willing to work as a member of a team and be flexible in duties as assigned
- Enjoy working with children and teenagers
- Respect confidentiality of work
- Upon hire, external applicants must supply a Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Search, and a cleared Child Abuse Registry Check, as conditions of employment.
- A food Handlers certificate and CPR training are considered assets
**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 per week
