**Our Team**:
Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.
The Port Colborne Refinery was also commissioned 100 years ago on the shore of Lake Erie. Raw materials and finished products from Vale's Sudbury and Newfoundland and Labrador operations are transported to Port Colborne for processing.
**The Opportunity**:
We are currently seeking a Procurement Specialist, Local 202-05 to join our Procurement Team in Sudbury. This is a 12-month fixed term position.
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for providing senior level support and procurement expertise acting as an extension of the Local, Regional and Global Procurement teams in the field for all commercial aspects of the supplier agreements. On a daily basis, they will be required to interact and establish key relationships with procurement personnel, plant personnel, management and the contract management team
**Accountabilities**:
- Will act as the key account representative for all departments within Ontario Operations on behalf of Procurement for all matters related to procurement and supply chain.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving the use of an emergency procurement process and ensuring emergencies are assigned and completed on time.
- Provide procurement expertise and consultations to all Vale personnel.
- Responsible to facilitate/participate in RFP meetings where necessary and coordinate kick off meetings when requested for small and large scale processes.
- Reactively address supply issues and proactively identify supplier risks, perform root cause analysis, and make recommendations to resolve critical issues.
- Information collection, critical analysis, demand planning, market supply evaluations, developing and recommending plans for suppliers in potential risk.
- Work with departments (internal customers, planning and intelligence team) in the development and approval of new suppliers and products.
- Lead and/or participate on multifunction teams internally and externally to execute any matters related to procurement and supply chain.
- Organize and facilitate internal meetings/site visits to sites where necessary.
- Have in depth knowledge of upcoming plant projects that will involve procurement.
- Recognize when to escalate critical issues, prioritize and action in timely fashion.
- Local travel. Vehicle is required.
- Must be willing to attend all local plant locations up to five days a week.
- Must be familiar with the underground and surface plants and accustomed to working in all aspects of these environments.
**Qualifications and Specific Skills**:
Education/Certification: Undergraduate Degree required in Business or related discipline (Commerce, Engineering, Legal) OR equivalent (such as Vale Procurement Analyst II experience with relevant 3 year College diploma)
Preferred: Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) and/or certification through Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) are desirable.
**Employment Experience**: Preferred experience in the role of Procurement Analyst ll (or current equivalent role in Procurement in other Regions) within Vale. Experience in other related roles may include: Buyers, Contract Administrators, Category Managers, Procurement Officers, etc. Procurement experience in a mining related organization is desirable.
**Computer Skills**:Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook), Access, Adobe, working knowledge of Vale procurement systems including Ellipse, Oracle and SAP.
**Other**:
Project leadership experience, negotiation skills, inventory and warehousing experience, proficient knowledge of contract law, sales tax, customs procedures as well as duty and transportation options is an asset.
Expert Procurement Knowledge: Vale Procurement Model, RFP Process, Vale governance models, construction lien act, international freight terms and knowledge of standard legal contract requirements.
Excellent communication skills / demonstrated skilled negotiator / demonstrated collaboration skills / ability to influence.
