**Position Summary**:

You must be willing to attend education sessions and you will receive a certificate of completion. There will be 5 weeks of theory and 2 weekend labs. This is a paid, full time learning opportunity. **The Operating Room Attendant functions as an integral member of the OR team by providing clinical and environmental support for assigned patients. Performs duties related to patient care under the direction of the RN, RPN and/or physician in accordance with hospital standards policies and procedures. Set up for surgical cases and assists with patient positioning, transfer and holding of limbs within standards established by the hospital.**

**Primary Responsibilities**:
- **Responsible for maintaining, cleaning and enhancing the patient environment**:
- **Responsible for the safe transportation of patients**:
- **Performs cleaning functions that are repetitive and specialized in nature**:
- **Performs project work on a scheduled basis to comply with environmental standards and in compliance with hospital's Routine Precaution Procedures, Safety, and W.H.M.I.S**:
- **Dismantling and transporting dirty instruments and equipment to the decontamination area**:
- **Attention to detail and care when handling sharps**:
- **Assists surgical team with patient positioning, transfer and holding of limbs during surgery**:
- **Ensures equipment, supplies and beds are available for cases as directed**:
- **Assists with ensuring patient safety by identifying equipment problems and/or hazards on the unit**:
- **Organization and restocking of different areas**:
- **Other duties not included in this description as per hospital policy**
