Spatial Knowledge Engineering Inc., is a Canadian IT company searching for an intermediate Database Analyst/Developer with 3+ years of work experience supporting SQL Server/Oracle Databases. The role is to design, install, and maintain production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability, system resiliency and optimal performance.

**Responsibilities**
- Database_
- Ensuring the stability, availability and data integrity of the database environments;
- Providing database troubleshooting, maintenance and support;
- Performance tuning of database systems and identify opportunities to continuously improve service levels and database standards.
- Write basic scripts to extract data from database and files.
- Write complex SQL queries, functions, stored procedures and triggers.
- Read data models and understand object-relational databases.
- Set and maintain database standards to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Create automation for repeating database tasks and processes.
- Development_
- Write structured, scalable code using.NET programming languages, designed to work with multiple web browsers.
- Follow internal company coding standards.
- Develop technical documentation throughout the software development life cycle.
- Test code to detect and remedy errors and omissions.
- Improve existing software and code to ensure adherence to stipulated guidelines and standards.
- General_
- Communicate with other team members to provide technical input on various tasks and projects.
- Provide technical support for our Client User Support Team in resolving technical issues.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and strategies to support business objectives and priorities.
- Remain abreast of technological changes that will impact your work.

**Requirements**:

- Database_
- Experience with development using database technologies.
- DBA expertise and best practices to scale and optimize database services.
- Capable of creating, reviewing and delivering complex database scripting and analysis
- Capacity to use SQL (Structured Query Language) to query object-relational databases.
- Experience with SQL Query Tuning.
- Database Architecture and Data Modelling experience.
- Development_
- Familiarity with the Windows Server 2019+, ASP.NET framework, SQL Server 2017+.
- Understanding of structured software development methodologies.
- Formal knowledge/training and experience as a.NET Developer, preferably with Visual Basic, Java Script, and HTML5/CSS3.
- General_
- Troubleshooting skills -Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues.
- Willingness to communicate and collaborate with other technical staff working as part of project teams on various projects.
- Attention to detail.
- Qualifications_
- _College or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or related field of study or 3-5 years equivalent work experience

**Work Location and Compensation**

One of our technical offices is located in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia. We offer flexible working conditions and location.

Compensation is based on a very competitive hourly wage that will be negotiated, and is dependent on your skills and work experience. Hourly wages are reviewed on an annual basis and increased based on performance and cost of living expenses. Annual performance bonuses may also be provided that are dependent on your and company performance.
