The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices the culturally responsive pedagogy approach in providing an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the 59,000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties, an area of 5,250 square kilometres and a total of 23 schools.

6 month term, effective immediately
- Qualifications:
- Business diploma or degree
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and experience processing payroll preferred
- Knowledge and experience in processing employee benefits programs preferred
- Experience in an SAP environment preferred
- Proficient in MS Excel and Microsoft Word
- Characteristics:
- Team player demonstrating effective and cooperative working relationships.
- Self-starter, open to testing new ideas that may improve performance.
- Excellent time management and data handling skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
- Awareness of Board policies, processes, and developments that affect the Human Resources Department.
Task Dimensions:
Responsible for the accurate entry and maintenance of personal information during the life cycle of employee using the HRIS module in SAP. For example:
- Processing individual assignment changes for employees.
- Reporting employee movements.
- Entering pay and benefit changes, including absences and leaves for all employees.
- Ensuring Payroll Department receives timely appointments reports for pay evaluation and related payroll processing.
- Making any necessary corrections in personnel administration areas and benefits following simulations and evaluations.
- Testing relevant configuration changes in all HRIS systems and act as an approver, including changes related to Collective Agreements.
- Extracting data from HRIS to the Leave tracking system AESOP.
- Receiving and processing Police Records checks and Child Abuse Registry checks and advising the Director of Human Resources of any negative reports. Following up with applicants as directed.
- Process Employee Benefits at enrolment, termination, and/or as changes are required.
- Ensuring that the appropriate documentation is distributed in a timely manner as well as providing basic information in relation to the completion of forms.
- Providing help desk support for users of the applicant tracking system and the leave management system.
- Maintaining the job description library for staff.
- Maintaining general, personnel and competition filing systems.
- Managing the substitute placement process.
- Coordinating in-services/seminars for staff as requested by the Director of Human Resources.
Participate in staffing process. For example:
- Assisting in the management of the recruitment website and perform all related duties such as providing hiring timelines, managing the postings and advertisement of vacancies and unfilled positions, posting vacant positions, approving recommendations, setting up new applicants, and filtering inquiries.
- Preparing and distributing approval letters and contracts in the SSRCE recruiting system.
- Assist with onboarding process as required
Provide reporting services to stakeholders under the direction for the Director, for example:
- Preparing and distributing seniority lists required by collective agreements.
- Preparing lists for leaves of absence, retirements and other statistical reports as required for staff.
- Collecting and maintaining enrolment and class size information of students for all schools and grades.
Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
Performs other related duties as required.
