SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who designs, implements, updates, analyses and assesses activities in one or more social programs.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
The incumbent of the position assists psychiatric assessments and follow-ups of children, adolescent and adults in Eeyou Istchee/Region 18, seen by the Psychiatrist on and off territory by:
- Does the liaison with local resources: develop relationships in each community;
- Organizes, coordinates and assists multidisciplinary meetings with the local team and psychiatrist to discuss about clients seen and the follow up of challenging cases;
- Acts as a “pivot” for families and local resources in Eeyou Istchee;
- Helps to gather psychosocial and collateral information;
- May involve support of local psychosocial resources (e.g. school, Youth Protection, community workers, Group home, etc.);
- Assists in the development of culturally appropriate Treatment Plan;
- Identifies and update the list of key resources for MH on territory and out of territory;
- Acts as an adviser for the Inpatient team;
- May be asked to assist in case of emergency placement;
- Organizes weekly meeting with the Wiichihiituwin (Cree Patient services) team, consisting of the Child Psychiatrist and a Medical Secretary, to coordinate and ensure adequate assessment and follow-up of 3 main groups of clients 1) On the territory, 2) Outpatient and 3) Inpatient;
**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education**:
- Must have the required university degree in social work;
- If using the reserved title, must provide her/his employer with annual proof that she/he is a member of the Ordre professional des travailleurs sociaux du Québec;
- The applicant on the acquired rights list in accordance with PL-21 will be considered;
**Experience**:
- Two (2) years of relevant experience;
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Good understanding of psychosocial issues;
- Understanding of Indigenous culture and issues that affect individuals, families and communities is an asset;
- Ability in the identification and analysis of the clientele needs;
- Ability to communicate theoretical and practical knowledge, as applied to coaching and training;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Autonomous, discrete and empathetic;
- Teamwork capabilities;
LANGUAGE
- Fluent in English;
- Fluency in Cree or French is an asset;
OTHER
- Travelling in the different Cree communities according to the needs of the mental health teams and the clients.
APERÇU DU POSTE

FONCTIONS SPÉCIFIQUES
Le titulaire du poste participe aux les évaluations psychiatriques et les suivis d'enfants, d'adolescents et d'adultes d'Eeyou Istchee / Région 18, vus par le psychiatre sur et hors du territoire en:
- Assurant la liaison avec les ressources locales et développant des relations dans chaque communauté;
- Organisant, coordonnant et assistant à des réunions multidisciplinaires avec l'équipe locale et le psychiatre pour discuter des clients vus et le suivi de cas difficiles;
- Agissant comme un pivot pour les familles et les ressources locales à Eeyou Istchee;
- Aidant à la collecte d’informations psychosociales et collatérales;
- Impliquant le soutien de ressources psychosociales locales (par exemple, école, protection de la jeunesse, travailleurs communautaires, foyer de groupe, etc.);
- Aidant à l'élaboration d'un plan de traitement culturellement approprié;
- Agissant comme conseil pour les équipes des services aux patients hospitalisés;
- Peut être appelé à aider les équipes en cas de placement d’urgence;
- Organisant une réunion hebdomadaire avec l’équipe Wiichihiituwin (services aux patients cris) afin de coordonner et d’assurer une évaluation et un suivi adéquats de 3 groupes principaux de clients: 1) sur le territoire, 2) consultations externes (OPD) à Montréal et 3) patients hospitalisés (rare);
EXIGENCES
Éducation
- Baccalauréat en travail social ou en service social;
- Si ce titre d’emploi réservé doit être utiliser, être membre en règle de l’Ordre professionnel des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ);
Expérience
- Deux (2) années d’expérience pertinente en travail social;
Connaissances et aptitudes
- Connaissance des moyens appropriés pour gérer une intervention pour client avec comportement difficile;
- Bonne compréhension des problèmes psychosociaux;
- Compréhension de la culture des Premières Nations et des enjeux qui touchent les individus, les familles et les communautés est un atout;
- Aptitude à identifier et analyser les besoins de la clientèle;
- Aptitude à communiquer les connaissances théoriques et pratiques, tel qu’appliqué à la formation;
- Excellent jugement critique, esprit de synthèse, sens de l’organisation et de prise de décisions;
