NATIONAL Public Relations is looking for an energetic and passionate professional to join our communications team. We work with a diverse range of clients across industries and practice areas, providing strategic counsel, media relations support, issues and crisis management, public engagement, investor and stakeholder relations, and content development support to clients.

**What you will do**:
As an integral member of NATIONAL’s team, you will be expected to:

- Develop and execute media relations strategies, especially with business and finance journalists; develop, strengthen, and manage strategic relationships with journalists
- Be client-facing and develop strong client relationships built on trust, excellent communication, and service
- Design, manage and execute communications campaigns, including thought leadership for senior executives, which may include message development; earned, owned and paid media strategy; content development and public engagement; investor and stakeholder engagement and outreach
- Manage multi-faceted client accounts, including work plans and budgets, and the delivery of high-quality work
- Provide strategic counsel and support for major clients in various sectors, including financial services, professional services, energy, healthcare, and real estate, among others.
- Develop strong digital, corporate, and investor content including press releases, thought leadership/opinion editorials, and corporate messaging
- Help develop and manage integrated communications campaigns to raise the profile of executives and the companies they lead, increase awareness, shape public opinion, and motivate people to act
- Manage issues and crises for clients
- Work with other NATIONAL Toronto practices and other NATIONAL offices in Canada, as well as AVENIR GLOBAL agencies and partners in the U.S. and Europe to deliver integrated services (from media relations and advertising to digital content development and stakeholder research)
- Continually look for opportunities to increase business through the expansion of existing client work and contribute to the Firm’s new business development process
- Demonstrate a continual desire to hone your skills and stretch your abilities
- Reporting to the Director, Corporate and Public Affairs, work with a talented team of communications consultants, including responsibilities for people management and talent development
- Other duties as assigned

- Strong media relations skills with a passion for developing and executing earned media strategies for major organizations and senior executives
- Experience managing communications for issues and crises
- Strong business writing and presentation skills, and ability to engage with clients and earn trust
- Proven project management capabilities
- Ability to deliver integrated communications programs and campaigns, including media relations and investor relations
- Financial acumen and/or experience in strategic communications for financial and/or corporate clients in other industries (understanding and experience in the capital markets is a bonus)
- Familiarity with or interest in complex situations: M&A, shareholder activism, proxy challenges and litigation is an asset, although not essential
- Experience working across teams to deliver products (be they digital, creative, or insights and analytics)
- A demonstrated capacity for leadership, communication, and teamwork
- Maintain knowledge of evolving economic, political and social issues that affect our clients
- A collegial, high performer who is proactive and accountable and takes pride in delivering high-quality work
- A university degree in a related field and/or related certification, and eight to 10 years of relevant experience
- Experience working with a communications agency is an asset
