Global Fire Rescue Service (GFRS) is an Alberta-based Wildland Fire Protection company specializing in Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) operations. We utilize Structural Protection Units, advanced firefighting techniques, and specialized equipment to protect communities from wildfire threats.
**Position Details**:
- **Job Type**: Paid-on-Call/Seasonal Contract
- **Contract Length**: Up to 6 months (depending on deployment needs)
- **Salary**: Starting at $35/hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)
- **Positions Available**: Between 30 & 40 (with potential for additional hires as needed)
**Available Positions & Minimum Qualifications**
**Captain (Officer-Team Lead)**
**Required Minimum Qualifications**:
- WUIM (Wildland Urban Interface Member) Certification with a recorded experience tracker
- NFPA 1010 (formerly NFPA 1001 Level I and II)
- NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level I (minimum, with experience)
- ICS-200
- NFPA 1140 Level I (formerly NFPA 1051 Level I)
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C or Advanced First Aid (MFR, EMR, EMT)
- Alberta HTC/CIFFCI Wildland Firefighting courses:
- S-131 (Units 3,4,9,10,12,13)
- S-291 (Understanding the Fire Weather Index System)
**Consideration for Leadership Roles**:
**Firefighter (Crew Member)**
**Required Minimum Qualifications**:
- WUIM Certification
- NFPA 1001 Level I
- NFPA 1140 (formerly NFPA 1051)
- ICS I-100
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C or Advanced First Aid (MFR, EMR, EMT)
- Alberta HTC/CIFFCI Wildland Firefighting courses:
- S-131 (Units 3,4,9,10,12,13)
- S-291 (Understanding the Fire Weather Index System)
**Additional Requirements**:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Current Driver’s Abstract (to be provided if hired)
- Certificates (required before interview)
**Additional Training & Certifications**
- WUIB or WUIL (with documented experience)
- NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator
- NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level I & II
- NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level I & II
- NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations
- ICS-200 (or higher)

**How to Apply**:
**Responsibilities**
- Respond to wildland fire incidents and manage urban interface emergencies effectively.
- Be actively involved in the FireSmart program.
- Maintain and operate firefighting equipment, ensuring readiness for deployment.
- Provide first aid and CPR as needed to injured individuals during incidents.
- Collaborate with team members and other agencies to strategize firefighting efforts.
- Drive firefighting vehicles, adhering to safety regulations and maintaining a valid Class 5 Licence.
**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 60 - 84 per week

- On call
**Experience**:
- Firefighter: 1 year (preferred)
