Under the general direction of the RN/RPN in-charge, gives direct care to residents as specified by the individual care plan.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Organizes daily duties as per assignment.
- Assists residents with AM/PM care and in the maintenance of personal hygiene as required.
- Assists residents with whirlpool baths and showers as per schedule.
- Assists residents with personal grooming (hair, shave, make-up) as needed.
- Makes residents' beds and ensures the room is in good order.
- Transfers residents who require assistance to bed/chair, according to the Home’s policies.
- Transports residents to meals and activities when required.
- Maintains residents on continence programs.
- Assists residents in therapy/restorative/activity programs.
- Gives special care as instructed by R.N./R.P.N. in-charge.
- Serves meals in the dining room and assists those residents requiring additional attention.
- Serves a.m. refreshments, as required.
- Serves afternoon tea, serves evening tea, as required.
- Checks residents' clothes daily and informs R.N./R.P.N. when repairs or replacements are necessary.
- Places laundered clothes and linens in appropriate storage areas.
- Cleans bedside equipment, wheelchairs, and Geri-chairs as needed and weekly.
- Ensures proper use and care of equipment.
- Participates in committees for the maintenance of the optimal quality of care.
- Maintains acceptable standards of professional conduct and attitudes.
- Ensures the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of the residents.
- Participates in in-services and continuing education.
- Ensures the Health and Safety of residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors by following safe practices and proper procedures.
- Participates in RAI/MDS practice requirements.
- Performs any duties as required that are necessary for the welfare of the residents and efficient operation of the Home.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Must have a minimum of a **Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker certificate or equivalent** from a recognized educational facility with formalized training and related experience.
- Nursing Students who have completed one year of Nursing studies with an accredited Canadian educational institution are welcome to apply.
- **_Internationally trained Registered Nurses_ with experience providing direct care to Geriatric and/or vulnerable populations are welcome to apply.**:

- Preference will be given to those with experience providing direct care (Personal Support Worker) to elderly people in a Long-Term Care facility.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively and collaboratively as a team member under the direction of the RN/RPN in charge.
- General computer skills, able to access and enter medical information into Electronic Medical Records system
- Good command of the English language, (Read, write, speak)
- Organizational, planning, time management, and multi-tasking skills.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Casual
Contract length: 6 - 12 months
Part-time hours: 15 - 37.5 per week

**Salary**: $20.75-$21.26 per hour

**Experience**:

- Personal Support Worker: 1 year (preferred)
- Long-Term Care: 1 year (preferred)
