The Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) safeguards the health of Ontarians and provides advice on public health matters to the health sector, the division, Ministry of Health, other ministries and the provincial government. **Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities**
Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of its business goals. It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the ministry.
In this role, you will:
- Provide expert medical leadership and strategic advice on public health issues to the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) and senior ministry officials.
- Build and maintain relationships with public health partners, including Public Health Ontario, Medical Officers of Health, and other government agencies, to facilitate system-wide public health planning, integration, and alignment.
- Promote the use of scientific evidence and research in public health policy and programs.
- Act as a key leader in public health emergencies, providing guidance and direction to ensure effective response and recovery.
**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:
- A degree in medicine from a university of recognized standing and a Fellowship in Community Medicine (Public Health and Preventive Medicine) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- A license to practice medicine in Ontario, with a minimum of five years' experience as a practicing public health physician
**Leadership Experience**:
- You have superior leadership and management skills to provide direction and leadership to the public health system and act as a mentor to division colleagues.
- You can analyze strategic issues to form an understanding of risk assessment and management to provide proactive assessment, management, and communications of major health issues.
**Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills**:
- You can identify and address complex public health challenges
