- We are excited to be expanding our technical capabilities in the mining and aggregates sectors and are looking to hire competent individuals with Geochemistry experience in assessment, prediction, and prevention of metals leaching and acid rock drainage (ML/ARD) to help grow our service offerings and capabilities with existing and new clients. You will contribute to the growth of our geochemistry service line and team of professionals in Canada, while supporting our mine waste engineering work, as well as our ecology and environmental management, permitting, and assessment groups on projects across the country.
- In addition to strong technical skills, you will also have knowledge and experience with applicable legislation, regulations, guidelines and standards within Canada, and the successful management and delivery of projects, meeting SLR’s high standards for quality and client satisfaction. This will be utilized to provide outstanding client service and advisory solutions to help our clients solve complex problems.Key Responsibilities

**You will also**:

- Contribute to planning and implementing new and existing ML/ARD projects including development of assessment programs, completion of field sampling and geochemical characterization of mining and aggregate related materials, and transportation and resource projects
- Conduct geochemical and hydro-chemical fieldwork, data management, QA/QC, data manipulation, and geochemical modeling using speciation and mass transport codes
- Support and/or lead multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations, with responsibility for models and other project deliverables meetings expectations for quality and technical excellence
- Design, plan, and oversee field programs that focus on understanding the geochemical characteristics of materials for mining clients and oil sands operators
- Assist in developing baseline geochemical assessment for new or expanding mining and aggregate site, as well as remediation plans for existing and abandoned mine site.
- Provide expert opinion and assessment both internally and for government and other regulatory agencies
- Manage, analyze, and interpret measured and modelled data, and provide technical review and quality control for data collection, management, and analysis
- Prepare technical summary reports detailing the objectives, work plan, and results of ML/ARD assessment and mitigation programs
- Work with multi-disciplinary project teams to integrate results of geochemical characterization programs into large scale environmental assessments, side-wide water quality models, geochemical conceptual models and acid-rock drainage/metal leaching management and mitigation plans

**Qualifications**
- Knowledge and experience with applicable federal and provincial regulations and guidelines, preferably with a working knowledge of BC, Yukon, and Northwest Territories mine permitting processes.
- Experience with geochemical modelling software such as PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench, etc.
- Strong geology background
