The Utility Gang employee works as a crewmember to repair and replace rails, ties, plates, switches and ballast.

**Responsibilities**
- Perform the duties involved with by carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's safety policies and applicable rules
- Work with direction from the Foreman.
- Replace ties, spikes, plates and repair various track components including rails.
- Correct deviations in track surface, alignment and gage.
- Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and adjustments to equipment as needed.
- Fill out and maintain required regulatory forms.
- Establish and maintain drainage; install, repairs and cleans small culverts.
- Perform any other related tasks

**General Requirements**
- Possess a High School Diploma.
- Work experience in construction or mechanics (asset).
- Operation of hydraulic and gas powered tools (asset).
- Operation of track equipment including but not limited to the following: tie inserters, spike puller, spiker, Hi rail excavator regulator, and tamper. (asset).
- DZ licence (asset).
- Must be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Must be in a position to be away from home during the work week (Monday to Friday).
- Able to adapt to different work cycles and working hours: 4 on/3 off, 5 on/2 off, 8 to 12-hour days.
- Valid Driver’s license is required.
- Hotels and meals (expenses) will be reimbursed by the company once a month on a specific date.

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical evaluation that includes a vision, hearing, drug screening, pre-employment physical and full background check.
