JOB DESCRIPTION: The server will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service through setting tables, taking orders and serving meals and beverages to clientele according to Cardinal Golf Group’s standards and in accordance with Ontario’s Liquor Laws. Maintains cleanliness and order in serving areas. Ensures that bills are paid or signed for.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepare restaurant for dining
- Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
- Helps patrons select food and beverages by presenting menu; offering cocktails; suggesting entrees; detailing the chef’s specialties; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions
- Transmits orders to bar and kitchen by recording patrons’ choices; identifying patrons’ special dietary needs and special requests
- Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression
- Serves orders by picking up and delivering patrons’ choices from bar and kitchen; delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars
- Responds to additional patron requirements by inquiring of needs; observing and staying attentive during the dining process
- Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs
- Concludes dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant; inviting patrons to return
- Obtains revenues by totaling charges; issuing bill; accepting payment; delivering bill and payment; returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be Smart Serve Certified
- General Math Skills
- Previous restaurant serving or bartending experience an asset

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

- Strong customer service orientation
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive, enthusiastic and out-going manner
- Clean, neat, well-groomed appearance
- Dependable and conscientious work habits
- Attention to detail
- Ability to manage payment tenders accurately
- Ability to make quick decisions correctly and routinely

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- To be able to work long hours while on your feet
- To be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Must have the ability to execute work efficiently in high stress situations
