Bechtel has been appointed as the Delivery Partner, supporting our customer Metrolinx as part of an integrated team, to help deliver the signature Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project, a transformational transit project for the Greater Toronto Area. The multi-billion-dollar project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by three key Public/Private Partnership (P3) Contractors and multiple advanced/early works contractors.

**Role**:
The Community Engagement Manager, reporting to the DP Delivery Director, will be responsible to develop, coordinate and lead the DP’s support of community engagement for the Ontario Line. The Community Engagement Manager will be the primary point of contact between the DP and MX’s Community Engagement team and be responsible for confirming the role and responsibilities which the DP project teams will have with respect to supporting MX’s community engagement initiatives for the Ontario Line. The Community Engagement Manager will oversee and support the activities of the DP’s project teams who will be overseeing and supporting the project contractors in their day to day activities which effect or impact the communities in which they work.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support and integrate the DP’s activities with MX’s community relations program.
- Provide technical and administrative assistance to establishing DP processes and procedures governing community engagementpolicies and related programs which bear critical importance to overall program objectives.
- Support development of methods for the assignment, tracking and closure of all MX obligations, requirements and commitments to local communities which must be fulfilled by the MX IPT or project contractors during execution of the project.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate/manage key community relations interfaces and risks.
- Oversight of DP inspections of project sites to ensure contractors adherence to plans and procedures governing community relations best practice.
- Support the DP teams in monitoring, logging and reporting on contractors’ compliance with the community relations requirements of the Project.
- Ensure the DP teams’ staff compliance with MX and provincial policies and procedures involving community engagement, including safety and sanitation rules and safe working practices.

**Job Qualifications**:

- Degree in public relations, journalism, English, community relations or marketing (or similar field of study) or equivalent.
- Minimum twelve (12) years of public and/or community relations experience in the public sector, ideally involved with the construction industry.
- Experience working with provincial (Ontario), federal and local agencies (e.g., City of Toronto and other authorities having jurisdiction)).
- Experience in organizing, leading and/or supporting public outreach, community forums and other institutional and business engagement forums held in support of ongoing urban construction projects.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to act as a role model, promoting a positive influence on the work of others through demonstration of technical expertise and effective interpersonal skills.
