**Role Overview** **POINTTS - The Traffic Ticket Specialists** has provided traffic ticket defence services to drivers in Alberta since 1986. We are looking for a Paralegal/Court Agent to join our Calgary team. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of our core mission: to provide quality legal representation to drivers charged with traffic offences, at an affordable price. Our Paralegal/Court Agent will provide legal representation and advocacy from "start to finish" for our clients. We’re looking for a talented legal professional with a solid grasp of the law, sharp litigation skills, and a passion for advocacy. You must thrive in a courtroom setting, excel at explaining clients’ rights and options, and uphold our established procedures with confidence. **Responsibilities** - Conducting initial client consultations in order to determine the nature of the charge(s), the preliminary facts of the case and a potential representation plan. - Reviewing the anticipated evidence for trial, in order to determine the strength of the case against the client. - Negotiating with Prosecutors for matters that may be resolved without trial. - Attending the Alberta Traffic Court to appear before a Traffic Commissioner, when defending clients who wish to contest their traffic tickets. This includes trial proceedings. - The confidence/ability to stand up and speak in court; to articulate legal arguments and effectively advocate on behalf of our clients when in the Alberta Traffic Court. - Effectively communicating, verbally and in writing with our clients and Alberta Traffic Court stakeholders. **Skills** - **Principled and professional**, embodying the ethics and responsibility of a respected Canadian brand. - **Driven and diligent**: with a strong work ethic to tackle our clients’ legal cases. - **Confidence**: to be able to stand-up and speak in a public courtroom setting. - **Tough, yet personable**: because after all, it takes grit and poise to advocate for clients when you are fighting their tickets in the Alberta Traffic Court. - **Knowledgeable**: with respect to litigation processes, legal research and court procedures. - **Organized**:in order to manage multiple cases simultaneously. - **Versatile**: able to work independently or as part of a collaborative team. - **Detail-oriented**: ensuring precision in every aspect of your legal work. - **Communicative**: with excellent written and verbal skills to engage clients, colleagues, and court staff effectively. **Qualifications** **How to Apply** Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
