The primary role of the **AECD OUTREACH WORKER **is to outreach to caregivers and parents with children ages 0-6 and connect them with FRAFCA early childhood development (ECD) programs and other supports they may need to thrive. The role is intended to ensure children experience positive early childhood development, parents/caregivers feel less isolated, and build on their skills and knowledge in positive parenting practices and healthy infant/toddler development.
The Worker performs his/her duties in alignment with FRAFCA’s vision, mission and values.
**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Outreach to different events and programs in the Surrey area to connect with Indigenous parents, caregivers and families who could benefit from FRAFCA programs and other supports
- Work in conjunction with staff to identify parents, caregivers and families who may be interested in attending the CAPC and AECD program
- Provide one-on-one outreach, home visits and family support to parents, caregivers and families who may not be ready to join formal programming, or need some extra support out of group
- Refer clients/families to other services/agencies when necessary
- Transport clients to services and support programs when required
- Work with clients to set short and long-term goals to better meet their needs
- Strengthen and support families in their role as decision-makers on behalf of their children and themselves
- Connect with the AIDP consultants and introduce clients/families to the AIDP program
- Provide monthly written and statistical reports to the Program Manager
- Other duties as required
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- **Education and Experience**:_
- Minimum requirement is a Diploma in a related field (for example: ECD, CYC, Social Services, etc.), one-year experience in family support and 2 years’ experience working in an Early Childhood program or Non-Profit Agency OR an equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Must have (or be willing to obtain within 90 days) a valid First Aid Certificate
- Must have a class 5 driver’s license, own reliable transportation and a clear driver’s abstract
- A Criminal Record Check and review is a requirement of all employees of FRAFCA
- **Key Skills and Abilities**:_
- Experience working with young families with children 0-6 years old.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal communities, organizations and service providers within the Circle 5 area (Surrey/Delta/ White Rock Region).
- Demonstrated cultural competency and understanding of First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultures, traditions, and knowledge of socio-economic barriers, family dynamics, and history of colonization.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and ambiguity.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict management skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work with the demands of a diverse team environment and cross-cultural setting.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
