**The Opportunity**
- This position is designated for a post-secondary student of _**_African Descent with Nova Scotian heritage_**_ in accordance with the requirements of our funding agreement with Nova Scotia Labour, Skills and Immigration. Only applicants who self-identify as _**_African Nova Scotian_**_ will be considered._

The **Training & Education Intern** will support the delivery of engaging STEM and marine education experiences in schools across Nova Scotia. Working closely with the Training and Education Coordinator on the delivery of the Offshore Wind 4 Kids (OW4K) programming, the Intern will help facilitate hands-on learning activities that spark curiosity about offshore wind and the marine sector among youth. The Intern will assist with equipment setup and takedown, capture event media and feedback, and help maintain supplies and materials. This position is ideal for a post-secondary student of African Descent with Nova Scotian heritage who is passionate about science communication, enjoys working with children, and thrives in dynamic, collaborative environments.

**This internship is part-time paid employment ($22/hour) from Sept - Dec 2025.**

**What You'll Do**:

- Collaborate with the Training and Education Coordinator in the delivery of Offshore Wind 4 Kids (OW4K) programming in schools within Nova Scotia.
- Assist with the setup and takedown of OW4K demonstration equipment during school visits and events.
- Help facilitate hands-on activities and learning opportunities, answering participant questions under the guidance of the Training and Education Coordinator.
- Document program activities by capturing high-quality photos and videos during events to support promotional efforts.
- Collect participant feedback to support program evaluation.
- Assist in organizing supplies, maintaining equipment inventory, and preparing materials for upcoming sessions.
- Participate in team meetings, providing updates and feedback from school visits.
- Support the Career Pathways Coordinator with post-secondary initiatives, as required.
- Represent COVE in all areas of work and delivery.
- Ensure compliance with COVE’s policies and procedures, including human resources, safety, and operational standards.
- Take on additional responsibilities as required to support the success and growth of COVE’s programs and strategic initiatives.

**What You Bring**
- A post-secondary student of **African Descent with Nova Scotian heritage**, pursuing studies in STEM, Education, Community Development, or a related field.
- Enthusiastic about science communication and engaging youth in a variety of school and community settings.
- Thrive in hands-on, collaborative environments that inspire curiosity and interest in STEM and the marine sector.
- Skilled in presenting and speaking confidently in front of diverse audiences.
- Passionate about teaching, learning, and working with youth.
- Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with diverse groups of people.
- Exceptional organizational skills, adaptability and professionalism.
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Available to work part-time for 1-2 days per week, during school hours (typically 9am - 2:30pm).
- Must be willing to travel within Nova Scotia to support school visits and community events.

**Additional Assets**:

- Working proficiency in French (spoken and written) is considered a strong asset.
