Temporary Packaging Laborer

**Summary**:
The Packaging Laborer will assist in ensuring the packaging area functions to package French fry and specialty products in a manner consistent with safety, quality, and production goals.

The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the packaging area along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. It is imperative the person(s) conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings. The individual in this position will accomplish these tasks by utilizing a team concept through working with team members and following direction and instructions from a supervisor. Work relationships and communications are key ingredients to the success of the individual holding this position. Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Perform all functions of re-work duties.
- Ensures proper cleanup, sanitizing, and housekeeping of work area as directed by supervision in a complete and timely manner.
- Demonstrates safe operation of a pallet jack / forklift.
- Ensures no injury to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.
- Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge. Demonstrates ability to learn and adapt to new procedures.
- Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function and while representing the company.
- Ensures that additional accountabilities as may be required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational and Food Group standards.

**Typical Education**:

- High School Diploma

**Basic Qualifications**:

- Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in a manner to successfully perform the job duties.
- Must be able to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages).
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to identify numbers and distinguish between case sizes.
- Must possess manual dexterity in both hands.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repeatedly for up to 12 hours.
- Must be able to identify different colors and recognize foreign material.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination.
- Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions (including cold and noisy).
- Must be able to stand on hard surfaces (concrete floors) for up to 12 hours.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, and maneuver in close quarters.
- Must be able to work well with all personnel.
- Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Must have an acceptable safety record.
- Must have an acceptable attendance record.
