UVic Child Care Services educators are passionate leaders and advocates for the field, who uphold very high standards and provide strong mentorship to ECEs new to the field. At UVic Child Care Services: We provide a free in-house professional development program in which we work with our Pedagogist who guides inquiry work and research projects, and provides resources to support educator learning. - Our educators have published journal articles, held exhibits and presented at a number of conferences and workshops. - Our pedagogy, inquiry work and research align with the BC Early Learning Framework (2019). Current salary $34.62 per hour + ECE WE $4.00 per hour = $38.62 per hour total** This position is for a 13 month temporary term, with a possibility of the term being extended. **Please note that a current Early Childhood Educator Certificate issued through the BC ECE Registry is required for this position.** - Job Summary University of Victoria (UVic) Child Care provides on-campus, innovative, creative, inspiring, and responsive early learning and care to young children of UVic full-time students, staff and faculty. The pedagogy for all UVic child care programs is founded on the BC Ministry of Child Care and Education’s BC Early Learning Framework (2019) and the Common Worlds Framework. The Early Childhood Educator Supervisor (ECE Supervisor) leads a child care team providing early learning and care to children who are aged 30 months to pre-Kindergarten (three to five year olds). The ECE Supervisor works in ratio with the children and assumes overall responsibility for the child care program’s operation, and pedagogy ensuring that the program aligns with the BC Early Learning Framework (BC Government, 2019); the ECEBC Code of Ethics; BC Community Care and Assisted Living Act; and Child Care Licensing Regulations. All staff who work in UVic Child Care Services must be immunized in accordance with the childhood immunization schedule. The ECE must also possess sufficient stamina for full-time work in a busy full day child care centre. The position is physically demanding and includes lifting up to 15 kg, crouching, squatting, bending, standing for long periods of time, supervising outdoor play, walking, and sitting on floor.
