Automation and Robotic Application Specialist

**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**
The Automation and Robotic Specialist works within our technical team to provide technical support to existing and potential customers within the Western region. They will work closely with all members of the technical team across Proax along with the inside and outside sales team.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Develop to create “Proof of concept” solutions for various automation systems or Robotic systems
- Program complex robotic systems, such as vision systems
- Develop three-dimensional simulations of automation systems
- Disassemble and reassemble robots or peripheral equipment to make repairs such as replacement of defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, and servomotors
- Troubleshoot robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics
- Determine causes of operational problems or failures
- Install, program, or repair programmable controllers, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, or conveyors
- Train customers or other personnel to install, use, or maintain robots
- Create and maintain a Project/Activity Database along with a calendar
- Complete PLC/HMI/Safety programming per requirements
- Provide technical training for top accounts, top prospects and large customers, inside team and technical sales representatives
- Accurately and professionally represent Proax Technologies to customers and vendors
- Demonstrate ability to accept overall project responsibility
- Knowledge, experience, and troubleshooting with machine automation (design and programming)
- Understanding of electrical/electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems
**WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
- Excellent understanding of the technical fundamentals of programming of Robotics, PLC, HMI, Motion, Vision, etc.
- Experience in the development of database and PC base programming
- Excellent communication (verbal & written), interpersonal, organization and presentation skills
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with Customers and Proax staff
- Must be willing to travel to customer sites
- Able to work independently and in group efficiently to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized
**EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technologist Diploma or related to Computer Science, Mechanical or Controls/Electromechanical engineering, with a preference to electrical, mechanical and robotics specialization.
- Excellent computer skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software and Excel
- Bilingual in English and French an asset
